It was MTN Ghana, which closed with a profit after tax of \u20b53.6 billion ($327 million), comfortably ahead of MTN Nigeria&#8217;s \u20a6414.9 billion ($271 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s about $56 million or 20% more than Nigeria, and on paper, that shouldn\u2019t happen, seeing as the MTN Nigeria has nearly triple MTN Ghana\u2019s 30.2 million subscribers, and brought in \u20a62.38 trillion ($1.57 billion) in revenue, more than four times MTN Ghana\u2019s \u20b511.3 billion ($1.02 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To understand why this happened, we would need to start with MTN Nigeria\u2019s position going into 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/inlomax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/137316.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-137\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inlomax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/137316.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/inlomax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/137316-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inlomax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/137316-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, MTN Nigeria rebounded from a brutal \u20a6519.1 billion ($339 million) loss, largely caused by \u20a6887.7 billion ($580 million) in forex losses.
